Our Google Meet today

Kia ora all. We will begin today by sharing what's on top for us. This might be in terms of art history or more generally in your world. Add to the padlet link as you join the video call. Once we've all joined the call we'll chat about what is on top.

A bit of admin. This week is our last chance to make sure you have access to the google community through our netnz emails, in preparation for google turning off access to public communities.
I will also quickly share with you how to set up mailbox forwarding so that you are still able to get notification about posts.

Later on in the period we are going to have a look at one of the Andrew Graham Dixon episodes. Please open up episode 2 in your browser and pause it so that it is loaded up for later on.

Then we'll have a bit of a brainstorm about what we know about Christian and Classical values. We'll use something called coggle for this.

We shall then spend some time looking at Andrew Graham Dixon episode 2. We'll watch 5-10 mins of this episode, then share ideas that have emerged from this. What do we notice? What questions do we have.

Then we'll head over to knowledge forum. Let's try to add any arising questions that we have, or new knowledge we have relating to questions that have been put to the community for development.

From here we will launch off into a few different activities.

Firstly we will investigate our artists. I have put links to shared slides for Michelangelo and Raphael on knowledge forum. Open these up and add your thoughts to your slides ( I have made a slide for each person.

Then we will launch into an investigation of classical and christian values and how these are expressed in art. You will find a link to a google slide on knowledge forum. I've put the note for this next to the artworks. You will each take responsibility for investigating an artwork and how one of these values is expressed within it.

These three slides will become your work over the week. Our overall aim is to gain an understanding of how apparently contrasting values were expressed in these artworks. You should try to frame your investigation in terms of how and why. e.g. How did classical values shape this artwork? Why were these values so important? How did context shape the values expressed within the artworks?

You will also use knowledge forum to work through any emergent questions that arise from your research.

We will do a bit of a round up at the end. What do we need to spend our time on over the week? What do we need to shed more light on?

 Kia ora all, How are we all? -to some of you For those of you who are working on the internal and not sitting the art history external/s this week is a natural ending point to your course with the assignment being due on Friday. My grand plan is to get marking sorted this weekend so that my moderator has all of the holidays to look at your work. All going well I should have marks back to you in week one of term four. Our Google Meet 21/02/19

21/02/19 Admin: Have we got set up with our netnz address yet? Here is  a guide for how to do it  and here is a  video  I recorded of setting up my netnz to forward to my regular mailbox, so I don't have to keep track of 2 emails. Sorry I was figuring out how to do it while I was recording, so please be patient I did get there in the end. You will need the netnz address primarily to access the Google+ community (Google will make it so that you can only access a community if you are from the same education domain as the owner e.g. netnz). How I'm organising my blog. As a research team which area of art history do we want to focus on? We need to pick whether we want to focus on Late Renaissance or Early Modernism as a group. Our Google Meet this week.

I would like to start using screencastify to record our google meets so that we can refer back to discussion if that is ok with you. I would keep them in a google drive folder that is accessible just to us. Today's recording in particular would be shared with my HoD who appraises my teaching each year. Today will be a bit admin-y as there is a bit to cover in terms of what we need to be working towards NCEA wise. Starting with what's on top for us . What is happening in our worlds and where we are at with our research into the values.  Please share some interesting discoveries and how they have helped your understanding of the big picture.  What has been helpful for you (on the website, on KF or some other sources?  (NB - when you click on the link, scroll down to the red padlet).
