7th of March Google Hangout

Kia ora Today we should have some new people joining us in our Google Meet. Please make Elina, Shanti and Zif feel welcome.

We will start today with brief intros. Who are you, where are you from, and what is one favourite or inspirational artwork and why do you love it?

What do we have in common?


Admin stuff

Have we all got access to our NetNZ addresses, and have we joined our google+ with them? After the end of March, Google will shut down the public side of Google+ and we will all need to be under the same education domain (netnz.school.nz) to access our Google+ community.



Then we will catch up with what is on top for people.

We'll have a bit of a review. What did we find out about the Renaissance over the week? What was your takeaway from watching the documentary? We'll have a bit of a kōrero about this and anything else you've read/watched as research.

We are then going to work a little bit in knowledge forum. Check into the 'why do humans make art view'. There is some fabulous knowledge building happening already here. See what you can add to the  conversation. In particular try to add to the question about values. How do you define them? How are values expressed in art?

 Then check into 'The Renaissance and Values'.  I have set up some questions here that we are going to work on as a group over the week.

A reminder about how we can add to the KB conversation.
-Do you have another interpretation/perspective? Share this to add to our idea diversity.

-What needs explaining? What new questions do we have relating to the big question? Asking questions helps us to improve our ideas and anyone can ask questions.

-“Praise” state what you think is a good idea, a helpful piece of information, or a point you agree with and how this is helpful for you This helps to identify the ideas that the group might want to focus on

-“Question” ask a question that will prompt you and the others to think deeper about the issue, or a question to help clarify a point Asking questions that delve beneath the surface help to progress our inquiry

-“Propose”  suggest a new idea, new information, new strategy, or new approach to solve your current problem of understanding This helps us to develop our discourse

 Over the week, you are each going to take responsibility for researching aspects of the Renaissance. You will each select a slide that you are going to be responsible for growing our knowledge about the question. We will work on this a little in class, then continue to develop ideas over the week.

Round up: what do we need to work on over the week? What is standing out as needing to know more about?

Our VC 05/08

As you come into the call can you please sign in then add to: What is on top? KF - externals style KF - externals meanings KF - externals context We will keep coming back to these to build up our knowledge base for externals. This is your chance to build up some resources that you can draw upon if you are surprised by the exam question. We will focus on building on our ideas to ask 'why' and 'how', as this will support M and E level thinking. Knowledge Building is a good approach for this as it much easier to ask these questions in the context of a conversation. Madison and Hazel's questions are a really good example of this.  By special request, we will play a Kahoot or two. Let me know which revision tools you find helpful and I can plan around this. Art History VC 23/09/20

 Kia ora all, How are we all? -to some of you For those of you who are working on the internal and not sitting the art history external/s this week is a natural ending point to your course with the assignment being due on Friday. My grand plan is to get marking sorted this weekend so that my moderator has all of the holidays to look at your work. All going well I should have marks back to you in week one of term four. Online courses can often have an abrupt ending when students go on study leave or complete their internal programme ... I wanted to give people a chance to reflect on how they've grown as a learner and the skills or mindsets they'll take with them.
