Hello all,
Again it is going to be one of those bitsy weeks when some people are out for derived grade exam and some people are out for assessments and appointments.
With that in mind, we will start by adding what is on top for us in art history in the padlet. You can also add to our artist study gallery in padlet.
Then we will have a bit of a chat, what do we feel confident about for the exams and what would we like to focus on (Keeping in mind the exam specifications and the media and processes specifications). Also if you are working towards an exam, can you think about revision techniques and activities that you find helpful.
We'll use the break out rooms for this and talk in small groups of three or so then report back to the class. This will help me to plan out the remainder of our time in art history in a way that is meaningful and useful for you.
We are going to have a go at a quick meanings response, using a set question and artworks (remember for the meanings exam you can also select your own renaissance artworks). Media and processes people could also have a go at this. You focus would be explaining how the meaning outlined in the question was created or reinforced through the media and techniques the artist used.
Make bullet points as though you were planning your exam response. (NB if you do this in your answer booklet and then run out of time to fully answer the question, the examiner can and will use your planning as evidence. This is a really good habit to be in). Then flesh out your answers more fully. Media and Processes people you could potentially weave the work that you do here into your written response for the assignment, this may make your life easier near the submission date.
We'll then do a bit of a close writing exercise looking at the Roman art in the renaissance. This is very similar to Florentine art. This is set so that you could answer it from a style, meanings, or media and processes point of view.
What is standing out to us at this stage? How confident are we about what we need to do? Is there anything we really need to spend some more time on?
Then we'll have a look at some exam responses and media and processes examples.
I will quickly remind you about performance criteria for M & P and Style and Meanings before we begin. Maybe you will some notice some themes across the different criteria.
Media and Processes:
Media and Proceses Low E
Media and Processes High Merit
Style external:
Style E7 a past NetNZ student who kindly sent me photos of their script - What made the difference for this student?
Meanings external:
Meanings E7 a past NetNZ student
Meanings E7 NZQA example Why was this a low excellence?
Meanings M5 NZQA example Why was this a low merit?
We'll post our thoughts here.
We'll have a quick korero about our thoughts
Before you go, please sum up what your focus will be on during the week and what you will have accomplished by this time next week.
Go well.
