Art and Theory in Renaissance Italy

In response to last week, I have a presentation about ideas in neoplatonism. I have also pulled out some art works people have requested that I talk to the class about. I have tried to model to the class how to set out your ideas so that you can be sure of relating the theory to the artworks (as the theories standard requires).

Questions:

 about the theories achievement standard, the texts achievement standard, or any of the nuts and bolts of the assignment?

There are two options. The first would be for those who are wanting an internal only course (which would rule out a course endorsement). The media and processes assignment would be what you focus on in term 3. 

If you are focusing on externals, I would suggest choosing one to two externals to focus on as I have got a lot of milage assessment wise out of our internal assignments. Most people will finish the year with 12-16 internal credits. I am going to give a quick overview of what is involved in the externals, as I am asking you to start thinking about what you would like to do for the externals (digital or paper and next term I will get you to decide on the external papers you would like to be entered into.

If we have any time we will do some work in our knowledge building padlets. These discussions will be helpful in developing our perceptive thinking needed for excellence. You can also ask questions in the zoom chat, which I can address as they come up.


Over the week can you:

  • Research how a principle impacts on an artwork. (Depending on how speedy you have been over the term this will either be researching a second principle of the theory on your second artwork, or perhaps starting research on a third artwork and the key principles that have impacted on it)
  • Continue to contribute to the two padlets. theories and texts. This is an important step if you are aiming for a higher grade as our discussions help to develop a perceptive understanding.
  • Make sure that you have responded to the survey about your preferences for the external exams. You don't need to be sure yet about what you would like to do. I just need to get a bit of an idea in general.
  • Ask questions that you have about art history in our Google Community. It is actually really helpful to know where you are at, as it helps me to focus my planning on things that will be really useful for you. It also helps to clear up things you might have been worrying about.

 Kia ora all, How are we all? -to some of you For those of you who are working on the internal and not sitting the art history external/s this week is a natural ending point to your course with the assignment being due on Friday. My grand plan is to get marking sorted this weekend so that my moderator has all of the holidays to look at your work. All going well I should have marks back to you in week one of term four. Our Google Meet 21/02/19

21/02/19 Admin: Have we got set up with our netnz address yet? Here is  a guide for how to do it  and here is a  video  I recorded of setting up my netnz to forward to my regular mailbox, so I don't have to keep track of 2 emails. Sorry I was figuring out how to do it while I was recording, so please be patient I did get there in the end. You will need the netnz address primarily to access the Google+ community (Google will make it so that you can only access a community if you are from the same education domain as the owner e.g. netnz). How I'm organising my blog. As a research team which area of art history do we want to focus on? We need to pick whether we want to focus on Late Renaissance or Early Modernism as a group. Our Google Meet this week.

I would like to start using screencastify to record our google meets so that we can refer back to discussion if that is ok with you. I would keep them in a google drive folder that is accessible just to us. Today's recording in particular would be shared with my HoD who appraises my teaching each year. Today will be a bit admin-y as there is a bit to cover in terms of what we need to be working towards NCEA wise. Starting with what's on top for us . What is happening in our worlds and where we are at with our research into the values.  Please share some interesting discoveries and how they have helped your understanding of the big picture.  What has been helpful for you (on the website, on KF or some other sources?  (NB - when you click on the link, scroll down to the red padlet).
