KNOWLEDGE BUILDING DISCOURSE Knowledge Building discussion is not simply for sharing ideas and opinions, but for transforming and advancing knowledge; we progressively identify issues as they arise, and build conceptualizations using contrasting ideas —> We ask ever-deepening questions, and look for clearer explanations and better examples.

 We'll work on the artist slides together. Start by adding what you currently know, then use the resources on the weebly site, the art story, and any other resources you know of

We'll spend the rest of our time in Knowledge Forum. Now that we've spent some time researching values what do we need to know? What do we need to shine a light on? What are we curious to find out?


We'll round up by talking about what is on top for us heading into the week and what our goals are. (Knowledge Building involves epistemic agency, which means taking charge of your learning through goal setting and evaluating progress.)

 As always we will catch up with how we are and what is on top for us We'll have a go with Socrative . I've got a quiz set up about meanings. Let me know how you like it as a revision tool. We will have a chat about our strong and weak points, which artists do we need to look at as a class? Which meanings do we need to look at more closely, now that we have researched some of the Mannerists and Venetians? Then we'll   continue with our group research to cover off the artists and meanings we need to look at - we'll show and tell what we've found out, then select a new artist with the plan of sharing back to the class next week. You should research through the lens of the exams you are preparing for (What are the key meanings? How do you know? What influenced those meanings?) Our VC 05/08

As you come into the call can you please sign in then add to: What is on top? KF - externals style KF - externals meanings KF - externals context We will keep coming back to these to build up our knowledge base for externals. This is your chance to build up some resources that you can draw upon if you are surprised by the exam question. We will focus on building on our ideas to ask 'why' and 'how', as this will support M and E level thinking. Knowledge Building is a good approach for this as it much easier to ask these questions in the context of a conversation. Madison and Hazel's questions are a really good example of this.  By special request, we will play a Kahoot or two. Let me know which revision tools you find helpful and I can plan around this. Art History VC 23/09/20

 Kia ora all, How are we all? -to some of you For those of you who are working on the internal and not sitting the art history external/s this week is a natural ending point to your course with the assignment being due on Friday. My grand plan is to get marking sorted this weekend so that my moderator has all of the holidays to look at your work. All going well I should have marks back to you in week one of term four. Online courses can often have an abrupt ending when students go on study leave or complete their internal programme ... I wanted to give people a chance to reflect on how they've grown as a learner and the skills or mindsets they'll take with them. Add your reflection here  Maybe do this as you join the call so that you have something to do as everyone else is connecting. We'll then have a bit of meta chat about this.
