How are we all? Let's check in with a good thing, an interesting thing, or tricky thing.

Questions

How did we get on with the research over the week?

What do we wonder now about colorito and disegno? Take 2 minutes in a breakout room to recap to another class member what you've realised is important in these two 'schools' of art making, and what you are curious to find out more about. We'll recap as a class then spend some time building on our class conversation in the padlet. There are a few more questions there now + you can and should add your own.


This is the part of the lesson where there will be split activities depending one whether you are preparing for externals or internals.


Internal people. Have a look at the magic sentence template and the TEXAS paragraph template on the writing resources page (my acknowledgements to Victoria Mentink from Burnside High who gave me these). Choose an artwork, this could be one you have researched a bit for the assignment or a third artwork. The object is for you to write about the media and how it helps the artist to create a particular style and meaning. You'll use the writing template to unpack this. Post your paragraph onto the google community once it is fully formed. You can totally ask questions as you go, a good place would probably be in the chat.


External people, you will practice writing a style or meanings response. If you are entered for both papers, choose which you would like to focus on in this period. I will explain the structure you need to use when planning your response and then we will jump into it. You can totally ask questions as you go, it would probably be easiest to do this using comments in the slides.

 As always we will catch up with how we are and what is on top for us We'll have a go with Socrative . I've got a quiz set up about meanings. Let me know how you like it as a revision tool. We will have a chat about our strong and weak points, which artists do we need to look at as a class? As you come into the call can you please sign in then add to: What is on top? KF - externals style KF - externals meanings KF - externals context We will keep coming back to these to build up our knowledge base for externals. This is your chance to build up some resources that you can draw upon if you are surprised by the exam question. We will focus on building on our ideas to ask 'why' and 'how', as this will support M and E level thinking. Knowledge Building is a good approach for this as it much easier to ask these questions in the context of a conversation. Madison and Hazel's questions are a really good example of this.  By special request, we will play a Kahoot or two. Let me know which revision tools you find helpful and I can plan around this. Art History VC 23/09/20

 Kia ora all, How are we all? -to some of you For those of you who are working on the internal and not sitting the art history external/s this week is a natural ending point to your course with the assignment being due on Friday. My grand plan is to get marking sorted this weekend so that my moderator has all of the holidays to look at your work. All going well I should have marks back to you in week one of term four. Online courses can often have an abrupt ending when students go on study leave or complete their internal programme ... I wanted to give people a chance to reflect on how they've grown as a learner and the skills or mindsets they'll take with them.
